Speed bumps (also known as speed humps, speed ramps or sleeping policemen) help people drive sensibly, which reduces accidents and saves lives. Available in a number of designs and a range of sizes to suit the required location. Speed bumps are also easy to install and come with everything you need.
Built from weatherproof rubber speed bumps are typically designed in contrasting yellow and black colours, which makes it easier for drivers to see them in advance and adjust their speed accordingly. Unlike other speed bumps, our designs also feature cats eye night reflectors, to make sure they’re highly visible in all light levels.
Additionally, our external cable protectors are perfect for use as a temporary speed barrier if you have cabling or hoses trailing across a road surface.
Which Speed Bump Do I Need?
When it comes to choosing the speed ramp you want to install in your car park or private road, you need to start by considering the vehicles which will be driving over them every day, and the speed you them to travel at.
50mm speed bumps are designed to be driven over at 10mph. If you go any faster, it’ll be very uncomfortable for drivers and passengers. Our 10mph speed bump is only designed for lighter vehicles such as cars and vans.
70mm speed bumps will slow vehicles down to 5mph. With heavy-duty designs, they’re also great for any application, including HGV lorries and smaller vehicles.
Where Shall I Install My Speed Bumps?
You’ll often notice speed bumps in areas where vehicles drive too fast or where traffic and pedestrians interact. These are frequently placed at entrances, close to pedestrian crossings, and in car parks at warehouses, factories, offices, schools, hospitals, construction sites and other industrial and commercial premises.
You should also think about vehicles turning on a speed bump, as this causes discomfort to those in the car, increases the risk of stalling and may also slowly damage the bumps. To avoid this, place the bumps away from junctions.
All speed bump kits and sections from Simply Safety Group also come with heavy-duty shield anchor bolts. This allows you to instal the speed bumps onto all tarmac, asphalt and concrete surfaces, including on any road surfaces and even in indoor locations like basements and multi-storey car parks.
