Should I Install Transport Brackets for my Vehicle?

Transport brackets keep your fire extinguisher from rolling or moving freely within storage compartments. Suited for all types of vehicles, these items help minimise damage to your fire safety units and keep you equipped with fire protection when on the move.#

It is recommended to keep Powder extinguishers on board HGVs, and also essential for Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs) and trucks transporting hazardous materials or infectious substances to have a car fire extinguisher on board to mitigate the risks of fires. This varies greatly on the tonnage of these vehicles, with smaller units being recommended for smaller vehicles, and bigger units being recommended for larger vehicles.

While there's no legal requirement for keeping a fire extinguisher inside cars, if risk assessments show there is a fire risk, then an employer must equip company cars with an extinguisher to reduce the risk of injuries. It's important to note that under The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, it's required for company cars to have first aid kits on board should employees experience an injury or accident.

According to The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, private hire vehicles and taxis must be equipped with a fire extinguisher on board, that is also regularly maintained and properly fitted.
