As per these updated regulations, all cable fixtures along escape routes – not just fire alarm – are now required to be fire resistant. This puts the onus on electricians and the construction industry as they are ultimately responsible for complying with the latest standards.
This fire cable trunking clip is specially engineered to ensure the installed cabling remains fixed in place under extreme conditions. In fact, its distinctive spring-loaded design works to grip the cable even more firmly as the plastic trunking burns away, so helping to combat firefighter deaths caused by falling overhead cabling.
Firefly’s 18th edition fire cable trunking clip is suitable for new installations and retrofits. The clip is available in six size options, ranging from 25mm x 16mm to 50mm x 50mm, and retails in packs of 100 for bulk fittings.
How Do Fire Cable Trunking Clips Work?
The spring-loaded design of Firefly’s 18th edition fire cable trunking clip makes it quick to install across a wide range of applications environments and remove. Its unique design also means the clip’s grip will become tighter as the trunking melts. Only a single masonry screw is required to fix each clip to the adjacent masonry or ceiling or to suspend it from a stud bar.
A major plus is that the Firefly fire cable trunking clip can be reused repeatedly without negatively impacting its integrity or having to unscrew the clip from its mounting. This clip can also be used to secure exposed wiring in place. The manufacturer’s recommended distance between clips is 300mm.
The 18th edition fire cable clip is manufactured by Firefly Fixings in the UK and carries multiple approvals as well as boasting numerous awards. The zinc-plated steel clip meets the standards for Fire Rated Cable Fixings BS7671 Amendment 3 and has a melting point of over 1000°C. What’s more, the clip is smoke emission tested to London Underground Standard and can reliably resist fire for up to 120 minutes in accordance with BSEN 50200.
